The History of Convocation
Although the celebration has changed, the spirit of this annual ‘calling together’ of the UChicago community has stayed constant since the University’s founding.
Looking Back: The Class of 2025
UChicago’s Class of 2025 embodies remarkable resilience. Starting their academic journey amid the pandemic in 2021, these students navigated unprecedented challenges while remaining intellectually curious.
In the fall of 2021, Assoc. Prof. Kimberly Kay Hoang welcomed students in the Class of 2025 during the Aims of Education address—celebrating the value of rigorous inquiry and the joys of being part of the UChicago community.
Demonstrating determination and excellence, a number of UChicago student-athletes made history by capturing national champions in sports including track and field, soccer and tennis.
Francesco Rahe and Anqi Qu, both College students in the Class of 2025, were named Rhodes Scholars this past years. Rahe is going to studying classical Indian religions while Qu will investigate ways to apply AI to economics.
In 2024, the UChicago community gathered across campus to watch a solar eclipse transform daylight into awe-inspiring darkness. Similarly, the Class of 2025 is poised to illuminate a bright future.
